October 4, 2012

THIS Sunday: We will continue in Galatians 3:1-18 this Sunday. Read it before you come to worship!

Faith Promise Weekend - In just four weeks, we will be having our Faith Promise Weekend. As we endeavor to send regular financial assistance to La Iglesia de Vida Abundante in Guatemala City, we will be once again participating in Faith Promise. On Saturday evening, October 27 at 5:30 PM, will feature a Guatemalan-themed dinner catered by a Guatemalan restaurant in Dorchester (Antojito's & Panaderia Chapinas!). Rev. Lora Wooster will speak to us at the dinner and again on Sunday morning. We hope you can be a part of this important weekend!

Your Spanish Word of the Week - calabaza, which is the noun for pumpkin.

Piercing the Darkness Convention - We want to invite you to come with us to hear Dr. Sam Vassel speak to the New England District Church of the Nazarene on November 10 in Nashua, NH at our district Sunday School Convention. Dr. Vassel is the pastor of our Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene (in NYC) and is a wonderful speaker. The day costs $20 (by Oct. 10) and includes lunch, but let us know if money is the only factor that would keep you from going. Our own Ed DiSante is the registrar for the event. Send him an email with questions or if you'd like to go.

  • All Hallow's Eve continues to come quickly at us. As we're planning ahead to light up the neighborhood again this year, would you wash and set aside you clear plastic gallon milk/juice jugs again? Just bring them to the chapel and place them in the kitchen. Thanks!
  • On October 12th at 6pm we will be playing the movie Princess Bride at North Street.  Now an ageless classic, The Princess Bride is a classic fairy tale starring Fred Savage, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Billy Crystal, and Peter Falk, among others. It is rated PG.
  • Mark your calendars now to plan on coming to receive communion together on Election Night. On perhaps the most divisive day in this nation, it'll be good to come together at Christ's table, the true King and our Lord. Over 200 churches throughout the nation are currently slated to do the same thing.
