Friends of the Homeless Sunday
As we continue in our "Holistic Stewardship: Doing well with all that's in our Care" series this weekend, we'll look at "others" and "strangers" and our responsible opportunity of taking care of the people in the world.  For our North Street community, this naturally flows into our Compassionate Ministry Center, Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore.  This Sunday we will consider again homelessness and our opportunity of compassion and service through this ministry.

It all begins during the Sunday School hour during which we will watch a video on homelessness from the perspective of children: "What's it like for a kid to live in shelter?"  All (children & adults) will be together for Sunday School (in the sanctuary).

Then during our gathering of worship, we'll be challenged by Pastor Jeremy about taking care of "others" as well as hearing from the FHSS staff about the ministry.  Come find out about how North Street can be better involved in this great ministry!

Men's Breakfast Fellowship
Tomorrow, Saturday (1/31), the men will meet together for breakfast and fellowship in the Newell Gathering Room at 8:30 AM.

Book Club
"The Finer Things" Book Club's next meeting has been moved to Friday, February 6th at the home of the DiSantes.  The club will be discussing The Year of Living Biblically.

HHRLA Hot Topics: Terrorism
On Sunday evening, February 8th, Pastor Jeremy will be a part of a discussion panel answering the questions, "What is terrorism?" "...and what do our respective faith traditions do in response?" Click here for more details.

1st Annual North Street Community Retreat

...on the calendar
As always, use our online calendar to know what's going down.

NO Bible Study & Dinner

North Street Currents

Just a quick note to get out some info on what's going on, in order of occurence:

Tomorrow, Saturday (1/17), some are getting together to put together our new cabinets for the shelter space in our church building.   If you have the time and are willing to come help, come at 9:30 AM.  Anyone can help!

You're invited to the worship gathering on Sunday (1/18) as we "continue" in our series on "Holistic Stewardship: Doing Well With All That's in our Care."  This week, we will consider what it means to take care of ourselves - the "self."  Next Sunday (1/25), we'll look at "career."  As you come on Sunday, take great care in parking and walking around the church building.  If you're able, please leave the parking spaces directly behind the church building for those who may need it most.  Parking across the street to the left of the firehouse is available on Sundays.

Every year, the Hingham & Hull Religious Leaders Association puts on a Martin Luther King, Jr. program.  This year, it's on Sunday (1/18) afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Linden Ponds Performing Arts Center.  Click here for more information, and don't forget to bring a non-pershable good to benefit the Hingham Interfaith Food Pantry.  Reservations are encouraged by e-mailing noplaceforhate-hingham@juno.com.

The Book Club will re-commence on Sunday (1/18) evening at 7:00 at the home of Andrew & Rebecca Rankin.  They will (finally!) be discussing the book, Dune.

Have you signed up for our first annual North Street Community Retreat (2/13-16)?  We want all who are a part of our community to be able to go, so be sure and let me know if you want to, even if for whatever reason (schedule, finances, anything!), you don't think that you can.  I'm excited about the opportunity to spend extended time with one another.

In community news:
  • Scott Newell has returned home from rehab.
  • Jodi & Benjamin Anthony ("Benny") Newell are home from the hospital.
  • Everett Pleyer came through surgery fine yesterday, and will be resting at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth for a few days.
  • As always, people continue to go through life, experiencing the joys and the trials that come up.  Be always in prayer for those in our community.

See you soon,
For the whole North Street community,
For & through Christ,
Pastor Jeremy

Benjamin Anthony

Announcing the birth of Benjamin Anthony to Jodi Newell, with grandparents Herb & Carol Newell, uncle Marty Newell, and great-grandparents Scott & Dorothy Newell. "Benny" arrived at 6:00 PM, weighing 9.25 pounds. We praise God for the grace of this new beginning!

Sunday, January 11th

Here comes the weather again!  With an impending storm this evening and into tomorrow morning, our ability to come together in worship tomorrow will again be hindered.  As was the case for last time, I will be in the sanctuary at 11:00 for those who come, but all are encouraged to take great care and thought in deciding whether or not to travel tomorrow.

As for the first part of our seven week series on Holistic Caretaking: Doing Well With All That God's Given Us...stay tuned...I'm thinking of ways to make sure that not all miss the first week during which we consider how we spend our "time."
