This Sunday -
We've been counting down for months and it is finally here: Join us this weekend for Sabbatical Sunday! This special service will include some times of prayer over various individuals and ongoings for the summer, lots of singing (including the kids!). I will also share for about ten minutes about what I feel the Lord has for us this summer. I really hope you can be here for this important service. - Pastor Jeremy
Sabbatical Update -
There are less than a week to go before the beginning of the sabbatical period! Things are beginning: the interns have begun, the book study is soon upon us, our trip to Georges Island is upon us this Saturday, and we'll begin with a special send-off service on June 16th.
Wait a second...why are we doing this again? In the midst of the busy-ness of planning something big, it's good to remember why we're doing it so we don't get lost in the details. Now is a good time to read our sabbatical narrative proposal to refresh our spirit, heart, and mind as to our hope for truly coming to understand and practice Sabbath. Even though some details have changed from the initial narrative, it still gives a great over-view of why we're doing this. So if you've not ever read it or haven't in a while, take a look here at this link.
Hosting our Summer Interns - In an effort to welcome our summer interns, Andrew Jones and Rebecca Smith, and to make them feel part of our community, we would love to have members of our community fellowship with them throughout their time during the summer with us. You can help by inviting Andrew and/or Rebecca to eat with you. If you are interested in welcoming them to your home for dinner, taking them out for a meal, or meeting with them for dinner at the chapel, please contact Heidi Parker.
Sabbath Book - Throughout the summer we will be reading a book to focus on Sabbath. Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives. The books will be provided for you, so there is no cost. But we need to know that you'd like one.
Georges Island Day Trip - This Saturday is our All-Church Outing to Georges Island. Those who are going should be at Long Wharf-North in Boston by 9:00 AM. We are in need of people who are willing to hold some food in their refrigerators overnight before the trip and/or carry coolers of food and ice to island. If you can help out with either of these, please contact Emily Fish.
Guatemala Update and Spanish Word of the Week - Keep checking in at the Facebook Group page to say hello. Our word of the week is descanso sabάtico, which is "Sabbath rest".
Co-ed Softball - The next softball game is Monday, June 17. All men and women are invited to play. All of the games are played at Humphrey Field in Weymouth. And check the church calendar for all the games.

This Sunday - We will continue this week in a short series on the core values of the Church of the Nazarene: "Christian, Holiness, and Missional". With the quadrennial General Assembly coming up this summer, it's a great time to ask what these mean for us. We come to "Holiness" this week. While not exclusive to the Church of the Nazarene, this is a more distinctive term for us than "Christian." I hope you can come this week to hear about it! - Pastor Jeremy
This Coming Week: District Assembly
Every year the New England District Church of the Nazarene gathers for worship, preaching, business, to ordain ministers, to retire other ministers, and much more. You are invited to any aspect of the District Assembly week (Wed. PM through Fri. PM). The full schedule can be found here. *This means that we will not have regular Wednesday evening activities at the chapel on June 5th.

There are less than three weeks to go before the beginning of the sabbatical period! Things are beginning: the interns officially start this week, the book study is soon upon us, our trip to Georges Island is fast approaching, and we'll begin with a special send-off service on June 16th.
Let Pastor Jeremy know by email as soon as possible as the books will be ordered on June 1st.
Georges Island Day Trip - We are still in need of coolers to help transport the food for the day. If you have a big cooler, let Emily Fish know. (And sign up!)
Guatemala Update and Spanish Word of the Week - Keep checking in at the Facebook Group page to say hello. Our word of the week is un pueblo de santidad, which is "a Holiness people".
Co-ed Softball - The next softball game is tomorrow (Friday, May 31). All men and women are invited to play. All of the games are played at Humphrey Field in Weymouth. And check the church calendar for all the games.
- Angelica Wilson is moving to North Quincy and needs assistance. She is moving this Saturday morning, June 1st. If you are able to help, please let Angelica know via email. Thanks!
- Jeanette Kutash is also moving to a new address in Quincy the morning of Saturday, June 8th. She is in need of assistance. If you are able to help, please email her. Thank you.

May 23, 2013
This Sunday - We begin a short three-week series this Sunday. The core values of the Church of the Nazarene are "Christian, Holiness, and Missional". With the quadrennial General Assembly coming up this summer, it's a great time to ask what this means for us. We'll begin this week with "Christian". As it is also Trinity Sunday, the image of the Trinity will serve as a great lens through which to consider the distinction of being a Christian people. You can read our passages in preparation right here. Hope to see you Sunday! - Pastor Jeremy
There will be a new addition to our sanctuary this week. There will be a "Sanctuary Prayer" book in the back of the sanctuary in which we invite you to write the names of people or situations that we would like to pray for during our "Prayers of the People" time. Our hope is to be better at praying for situations of both joy and concern.

Georges Island Day Trip - Can you believe this is in a couple weeks? We must know in the next week if you're coming with us on Saturday, June 15th. There is a sign up sheet in the foyer at the chapel. We are in need of coolers to help transport the food for the day. If you have a big cooler, let Emily Fish know. (And sign up!)
Labor Day Week Retreat: This retreat will wrap up the sabbatical period and will be taking place Aug. 30th through Sept. 2nd at the Craigville Retreat Center on Cape Cod. The cost for the weekend is $30 for adults, $10 kids 6-17, and ages 5 and under are free. All meals will be provided and we have access to a private beach. It will be a great time to welcome back Pastor Jeremy and his family and to reflect on the whole summer together. Unlike our winter retreat, we are responsible for bringing sheets and towels (couples will need double sheets, singles would need single sheets). Sheets and towels can be rented for an additional $10 for the whole weekend. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the foyer. E-mail or talk to Christina Duncan for more information regarding the retreat.

Ktizo Nook & Gallery - We are getting very excited for our next Ktizo event! Angelica Wilson, the artist of the hour, is also excited. We hope you can come on Saturday, June 8th at 2:00 PM to celebrate as she releases five original songs. While CDs are forthcoming, at the event "download cards" will be available. Best yet? You can hear the songs first at this event. Congratulations, Angelica!
