North Street Update

Finish up of our Work & Worship to Dorchester
Paul and Herb are going back to Dorchester today at noon and would like to invite anyone who can to join them.

Here's a note from Herb:
Last week we installed the new lights in the greeting area upstairs. It looks beautiful with the new paint and lighting. In the bathroom we moved, refitted and reinstalled the toilet, finished the wainscoting, and installed new TP holders. What has been done looks great but we still need to finish it off a little better.

This week we plan to install new ceiling lights, heat vents, mirrors and paper towel holders to finish the bathroom renovations. We'd also like to paint the two restrooms and the back door and there are also a few other minor fix-ups and paint-ups that could be done if we had a few more hands.

There is always more to do, but I think, barring being convinced otherwise, we will have to return the keys and declare victory with what we can get done tomorrow. Still, I would love to have the bathrooms looking just as nice as the foyer and the kids classrooms already do. Folks will need to call me ASAP to make sure we have the materials on hand for everyone who is coming to help.
- Herb N.

2008 Co-Ed Softball is here!
The church league softball seasons begins next week and we have our first game scheduled next Thursday, May 1st at 6PM. We do not have a complete schedule yet because some of the teams have not provided some of the necessary paperwork which has been holding up the works. Ours is in! Still, we need all North Street players to send a note to me with your preferred e-mail and cell phone numbers ASAP so we can complete our roster. Also, I'm sure we'll be trying to get together a practice some time in the next few days. Keep your ears open.
- Herb N.

The Remembrance
For those of you who were able to worship together on Sunday night as part of The Remembrance, here is a link to the video of the song Ain't No Reason by Brett Dennen that we tried to watch, but didn't show up very well on our poor LCD projector. Sorry!

With apologies, the date listed in last week's North St. News was incorrect for our annual Women's Banquet. Plan now to attend our annual Women's Banquet on Saturday, May 10.

Thursday Evening Bible Study
Tonight we continue in our weekly in-depth study of First Peter. We'll be looking tonight again at the second chapter. Come and join us at 7:00 in the Newell Gathering Room.

Annual Meeting
Our Annual Meeting is this Sunday, April 20th after we worship together. As always, we will eat together after so come with some food!

The Remembrance
Our second gathering of "the Remembrance" worship is also this Sunday, April 20th at 6:00 PM. Join us for this high energy, yet reflective and worshipful worship gathering centered around communion.

Did you know that:
1. More than half of the world lives on less than $2 a day?
2. Some people estimate that there are almost 34,000 different denominations within Christianity throughout the world?

This we know: the world is broken. Humanity suffers from various ills: hunger, war, disease, etc., etc., etc. The worldwide Christian church has never been more fragmented than it is today. But followers of Christ believe that he is a man who can fix and heal the ills of the world and that by his grace and following after his ways, we are to come together. What does this even begin to look like?

Join us as we look into scripture and the sacrament of communion together thinking about these things.

Women's Banquet
Ladies! Plan now to attend our annual Women's Banquet on Saturday, May 3. Stay tuned for more details.

Work & Worship - Dorchester
Our Work & Worship with the Dorchester Immanuel Church of the Nazarene went great this past weekend! We painted the foyer, a stairway & hall, and the children's room, as well as remodeling a bathroom. Then on Sunday evening we worshiped and fellowshipped together. It was a great weekend!

You can see a slide show of before and after pictures by clicking here.

North Street Update

Hello, North Street community! The entrance of the spring season is apparent - March Madness is almost over, the Red Sox are playing games that count, and things are looking a bit greener outside day by day, even if just a bit. There are lots of exciting things going on, and our own little community is no exception!

Thursday Evening Bible Study
As we said last week, we'll begin a six-week study on First Peter this evening at 7:00 in the Newell Gathering Room.

Weekend of Work & Worship in Dorchester
We've been talking about it for months and the weekend is finally here! Anyone and everyone who can is invited to come and help with a number of projects at the Dorchester Immanuel Church of the Nazarene. There will be projects for every ability (cleaning, painting, and more). We'll work Friday evening and during the day on Saturday.

Click here for directions to Dorchester Immanuel Church from our own church building (235 North St, Hingham). To get directions from wherever you will be coming, just change the "Start Address" at the link to your own address. Immanuel Church's address is 806 Blue Hill Ave., Dorchester, MA.

For those who would like to car-pool and/or follow someone to Dorchester on Friday, a group will be leaving from Hingham at 6:00 PM. On Saturday, a group will leave from Hingham at 8:45 AM.

And then on Sunday evening, we'll share a time of worship and celebration with the Immanuel Congregation at 6:00 PM (in Dorchester).

Annual Meeting
Our Annual Church Meeting (somewhat of a "state of the church community" day) will be on Sunday, April 20th, with a gathering to fellowship (potluck) after. Plan to be with us for this special day!

Walk for Hunger
On Sunday, May 4th, a few people from our North street Community have decided to take part in Project Bread's annual Walk for Hunger. If you would like to join them or be a part by making a donation, contact Meghan Scott or Heidi Parker.
