This Sunday - This week Pastor Dennis will be preaching from these passages and we will celebrate communion together. There is one more Sunday before Pentecost.Sabbatical Period Update - Many things are on-going in preparation for the sabbatical period this summer. Candidates for our summer internship have been confirmed: Andrew Jones & Rebecca Smith! Look here in the coming weeks for more information about who they are and what they'll be doing.
For now, we will be asking for households in the congregation to host them for dinner throughout the summer. We really want to welcome them into our church community.
Mark your calendars with the various upcoming dates/events: Another presentation and update will occur during the potluck on May 19th. Details are coming together for the all-church outing to George's Island on Saturday, June 15th (boat tickets and lunch are all provided!).
Labor Day Week Retreat- This retreat will wrap up the sabbatical period and will be taking place Aug. 30th through Sept. 2nd at the Craigville Retreat Center on Cape Cod. The cost for the weekend is as follows: $30 for adults, $10 kids 6-17 and 5 and under free. All meals will be provided and we have access to a private beach and it will be a great time to welcome back Pastor Jeremy and his family. Unlike our winter retreat we are responsible for bringing sheets and towels (couples will need double sheets, singles would need single sheets) if you are unable to bring sheets and towels we can rent them for an additional $10. There will be a sign-up sheet on the table in the foyer starting this Sunday. We need to have a final count by May 23rd. You can email/talk to Christina for more information.
Guatemala Update and Spanish Word of the Week - While our brothers and sisters from Guatemala will not be able to visit us in June, keep praying for them and checking in at the Facebook Group page to say hello.
Our word of the week is sabático, which means, sabbatical
- Congratulations to our own Dick Fish for his incredible contributions to Eastern Nazarene College and thousands of college masters students over the course of his time teaching. Dick is retiring this semester. He was honored this week at a special faculty dinner. Thanks for your example in serving the Lord through teaching!
- The kids did an awesome job at last week's District Quiz meet. All five of our kids who attended (Brayden, Anneka, Brenna, Brooklyn and Dorian) were top scorers for the district. Brayden and Anneka have qualified and will be going to World Quizzing in Indianapolis. A big thank you to their teachers and parents for all their hard work!
- Congratulations to Eric Siegel who is graduating from Northeastern University with an MBA tomorrow (Saturday, May 4). Way to go, Eric!
- Also, one of our summer interns, Andrew Jones is also graduating from ENC. He will be with us in worship this weekend so be sure to congratulate and welcome him.
